Organic rooibos tea with tangerine
Unmistakable, organically grown rooibos from the Cederberg Mountains of South Africa – wholesome, fruity, and caffeine-free. The subtle hint of mandarin orange contributes to the uniqueness of this blend.
The rugged beauty of the Cederberg Mountain region in southwest South Africa is home to the rooibos plant – about 200 km north of Cape Town, around the towns of Clanwilliam and Citrusdal. Found exclusively in this region worldwide, it's no surprise that it has become South Africa's national drink.
It is not exactly clear how old the rooi bush (Afrikaans rooi = red and bos = bush) is, but it was first described in 1772 by the botanist Carl Thunberg as a medicinal plant of the Khoisan.
Unlike black or green tea, rooibos tea contains no caffeine and few tannins, which means that possible side effects such as bitter taste or insomnia do not occur.
To give Rooibos a more exclusive touch, we blended it with a little hibiscus and tangerine, an Asian variety of the more familiar mandarin orange. The result is a great tea with a wonderful aroma that can also be enjoyed late at night.
