About Bowmore
Founded in 1779 and named after the town of the same name, Bowmore was the first legal whisky distillery on the island of Islay and one of the oldest in Scotland. Since 1963, the distillery was owned by Stanley P. Morisson, later renamed Morrison Bowmore, in which the Japanese company Suntory acquired a 35% stake in 1989. However, since 1994, the distillery has been fully Japanese-owned. Bowmore is one of the few whisky distilleries to have its own malting floors, which provide approximately 50% of the malt it needs. The heat generated is used to heat the on-site swimming pool. Bowmore has a beautiful visitor center where you can experience the high quality of the whiskies for yourself during a tasting afterward.Additional information
