"Vitis Robusta" - Grape varieties of the future
"Vitis Robusta" is the name given to very robust grape varieties. They are created by crossing European grape varieties (Vitis vinifera) with American grape varieties (such as Vitis labrusca). These crossbreeding partners are deliberately combined to combine the positive characteristics of both species.
European grape varieties are known for their excellent quality. On the other hand, grape varieties of American origin are often very resistant to fungal diseases and pests.
Crossbreeding allows for the development of grape varieties with extremely robust characteristics that produce high-quality wines. Diversifying the grape variety spectrum makes it possible to utilize environmentally friendly cultivation methods and minimize the use of aids.
