About Brivio / Gialdi
Guido Brivio is no stranger to most wine lovers in Switzerland. However, abroad, after many years of working among wine connoisseurs and wine professionals in New York and London, he has become something of an insider tip from a tiny, unknown corner of the vast international wine world.
Although Guido's grandfather was a wine merchant, he didn't grow up in the industry or even on a vineyard. At home, grapes weren't the focus, but rather artichokes! His mother and uncle jointly owned the production rights for Cynar in Switzerland. Only after studying economics in London did the young Guido decide to pursue an oenology training in Bordeaux. His mother was pleased, as she saw the continuation of a certain family tradition. A stay in California, in Sonoma Valley, followed, where he became acquainted with the carefree and experimental working methods of American wine producers.
