Gooseberries have been cultivated in Europe since the mid-16th century. The variety used, the "Red Triumphberry," was discovered around 1830 by the English gardener Rob Whinham. The skin is purple-red and the flavor is sweet and sour. It also makes an excellent spritzer. The gooseberry nectar has been produced naturally cloudy since mid-2015, and has therefore changed slightly in color and appearance.
